VCMAX, the Ventura County Materials Exchange program, is a FREE "matchmaking service for discards" provided to county residents & businesses by the Ventura County Integrated Waste Management Division of the Water & Sanitation Department. The VCMAX program promotes REUSE & WASTE REDUCTION by allowing residents, businesses, and non-profits to place FREE "wanted" or "available" ads on the www.VCMAX.org website. The ads posted on the VCMAX website give viable, reusable materials a second chance for use, and can reduce participant's disposal costs by keeping things they would pay to dispose of out of the landfill! Most items posted are free, but listers can charge a reasonable fee for quality items.

So take a second look at things you no longer want or need and ask yourself... "Could Someone Else Use This?" If the answer is YES then VCMAX is the program for you! But our matchmaking service for discards doesn't work unless there are "wanted" ads posted - so place as many "wanted" ads as you'd like for furniture, appliances, clothing, business equipment, computers, and more.

ALL of the "confirmed" matches made through the VCMAX reuse program help the County of Ventura meet the State's mandate to reduce landfill disposal by 50%. The Integrated Waste Management Division redesigned the VCMAX.org website to make REUSE, RECYCLING, and DONATION convenient. Use the sidebar to your left to link to the Habitat for Humanity's Restore - a thrift store for building materials; to FoodShare; to appliance recycling information; a Thrift Store directory; and to FREE household hazardous waste & electronic waste collection events held throughout the county.
