Am I allowed to charge for an item?
Yes, if the price is reasonable, you can charge for an item. VCMAX is not meant to be a profit-oriented program and there are limits to the number of "For a Fee" ads you can place.
Can I attach a picture or other file to my listing?
Yes. An appropriate picture, PDF or other suitable file can be attached to your listing when it is created or at a later time by selecting the "Yes" option of the Do you wish to attach an image or file do accompany this listing? question for your listing. When you click Next, you will be prompted to browse to the file and upload it.
How do I remove a posted item?
If the item has been exchanged and a match made, please CONFIRM your trade and the item will be removed from our list. To do this log in, select "confirm" from the top toolbar, find the item you have traded, click "confirm," specify the amount of material that a match was made. Click "Confirm" at the bottom of the page.

If the item has NOT been traded, go to your member menu and select "View Listings You Have Posted," find the listing, and click the "[Del]" button. You must confirm the deletion by indicating the reason for the removal.
How long will my listing be posted on the VCMAX site?
When posting a listing you will be able to specify the amount of time you would like it to be listed on VCMAX. You may specify a length of time up to 90 days or you can make it an ONGOING listing if the material is needed or generated on an ongoing basis. A listing can be renewed once it has reached the expiration date.
Is there a charge for the VCMAX Reuse Resource?
No. VCMAX is a free service provided by the County of Ventura to encourage reuse and reduce the amount of materials going to the landfill.
What if i only want my listing to go to a Non-Profit or charity?
Check the appropriate box in item #7 of the Second Step of the "Create Listing" procedure. This way you can limit your offer to those that will provide you with a tax-donation receipt.
Who do I contact if I am having a problem with VCMAX?
If you are having any difficulties with our website please email us. Simply click here or on "Contact Us," which appears on the left side or your screen. A blank email document will open. Describe your problem and we will try to help you as soon as possible.
Why doesn't my listing appear right away?
This is a County of Ventura website and, as such, must be monitored to ensure that it is "garbage" free. If staff determines that a listing is inappropriate, or that it does not fit within the policy guidelines of the County, the Environmental & Energy Resources Division may remove the listing or an attachment. Staff must approve all listings before they can be posted; it may take a day or more to see your ad.
Will my personal information be given to other websites or solicitors?
No! The only time ANY contact information is released is when a member is contacted about a listed item. At that time, the contact information for both the contacting and listing party will be exchanged to provide them with the information they need to make the trade. Only your name, city, and phone number will be shown on the webpage.
